Abelia x grandiflora 'Little Richard' is a hybrid Abelia cultivar from two introduced Abelia species, A. chinensis and A. uniflora; among Abelia hybrid cultivars, 'Little Richard' is noted for its smaller than average flowers and the orange-pink hue of new growth. This cultivar, like other Abelia cultivars, is a small, evergreen shrub that produces striking, glossy leaves. Growing to only between two and three feet tall and wide, 'Little Richard' produces lightly fragrant, white bell-shaped flowers in the spring, which are attractive to butterflies and bees and occasionally persist well into the winter.
'Little Richard' Abelia's dwarf growth habit makes this small evergreen equally suited for use in container plantings, near foundations, or on slopes for erosion control, and its evergreen foliage makes it a stunning addition to any landscape through any season.
