Aronia melanocarpa Low Scape Mound® is a unique, low-growing, creeping groundcover cultivar of Aronia, a genus of shrubs referred to as chokeberry. Normally reaching a height of around six feet tall, this dwarf, mounded cultivar is the perfect native shrub solution to groundcover, small space, and foundation plantings, and its smaller size allows for easier transplant to difficult areas like steep slopes. In addition, since Aronia is naturally more tolerant of wetter conditions, it works well for erosion control projects near ponds and streams.

Growing to only 12-24", Low Scape Mound® produces hundreds of white flowers in spring which are followed by black fruit in summer and intense red foliage in the fall. Regarded as one of the toughest and most durable landscaping shrubs, this Aronia cultivar requires very little special care and, although it may not be entirely resistant to deer browsing, the plant is capable of bouncing back from any spring foraging easily.
