Amsonia hubrichtii 'Butterscotch' is a dependable and colorful cultivar of Amsonia hubrichtii, an herbaceous perennial that produces profuse blue-gray flowers in mid spring, which attract butterflies and pollinators. 'Butterscotch' grows to between two and three feet tall, and can be differentiated from the straight species by its redder stems, as well as its vibrant fall colors.

Spring flowers, followed by summer and fall hues provide 3-season interest to border plantings, rock gardens, or rain gardens: Amsonia's long-lasting blue flower clusters bloom in the spring, while the foliage provides a vibrant green hue through the summer months before changing to a dramatic combination of yellow, gold and butterscotch in the fall. 'Butterscotch' can be planted in masses for even better visual effects in the spring and fall.
