Campanulastrum americanum, previously referred to as Campanula americana and commonly referred to as tall bellflower, is a native perennial wildflower that typically grows in open woods and meadows, as well as streambanks and shaded riparian areas. Boasting blue-purple blooms from June through September, this tall, 3-6 foot wildflower adds color and life to shaded gardens of all types. Flowers are attractive to a number of pollinators, including several bee and butterfly species.

Campanula americana is a biennial species, meaning it will die after its second year, but reproduces consistently through self-seeding. Tall bellflower's optimal growing conditions include organically rich, moist to wet but well-drained soil and part shade, but they are tolerant of a wide variety of soil conditions and light levels.
