Delosperma x Fire Spinner® is a hybrid cultivar of Delosperma, a genus of succulent originally native to southern and eastern Africa. Noted for its vigorous, spreading growth, the Fire Spinner® cultivar is also noted for its vibrant flowers which bloom in summer and produce varying shades orange, red, and pink; multi-color blooms are especially attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. One of Delosperma's common names, ice plant, is drawn from the presence of light-catching hairs on some species' leaves, which sparkle in the sun like frost.

Naturally low-growing to only 2-3" but capable of rapidly spreading, Fire Spinner® makes for a stunning ground cover plant through the spring, summer, and fall, and works best as an accent or filler plant in rock gardens, walkways, border gardens, and containers. Delosperma prefers full sun, and average to dry soils, and is drought, heat, and deer tolerant; despite its name, ice plant does not fare well in very cold conditions, but may retain evergreen foliage through milder winters.
